Could you please tell me the difference between multi-wavelength and single wavelength EDFA modules?

Q: Could you please tell me the difference between multi-wavelength and single wavelength EDFA modules?

1. Single wavelength EDFA
It’s Non-gain flat EDFA.
When the different wavelengths light source enters the EDFA, the magnification is different.
Gain flatness: 3db

Advantage:
The maximum magnification can be done very high.
Low price;

Disadvantage:
Different wavelengths of laser, the magnification is different.(Gain flatness: 3db)

Recommend:
Single wavelength laser source use.
or When multiple wavelengths of laser source are used, different magnification effects are not important;

2. Multi-wavelength EDFA
It’s gain flat EDFA.
All wavelengths laser in the C-band, the magnification is close.
Gain flatness: 1.5db

Advantage:
Different wavelengths, the magnification is close.

Disadvantage:
High price.
The highest magnification is low.

Recommend:
Enter multiple different wavelengths and require similar magnification.
